Rotherham PCT have been successful in securing
Single Regeneration Budget (6th round) (SRB 6) funding for a Health Impact
Assessment Project (HIA). Health Impact Assessment is the estimation of
the effects of a specified action (or project) on the health of a given
population (Scott-Samuel 1998). This project will work with other projects
funded by SRB 6 to identify the likely effects of those projects on the
health and well-being of Rotherham Communities. We will be making recommendations
to those projects about ways that they can contribute to improving health
and reducing health inequalities.
You will find information on:
- This SRB6 HIA Project
- What HIA is
- What affects our health
- Where HIA could be used to support regeneration activity
- Links to useful websites
- Contact details for project staff
The resources section will soon include:
- A copy of the Rotherham HIA Tool
- A Resource Catalogue which contains the details of books, chapters,
journal articles, web links and papers relating to HIA held by this
HIA project, which can support HIA activity based regeneration
- Jobs & Economy themed HIA
- Skills & Training themed HIA
- Community Development, Safety & Health themed HIA
This project has also brought together a group of
representatives from Local Authorities, community groups, SRB6 projects,
Area Assemblies, PCT and LSP’s to develop a locally applicable HIA
tool for use primarily in the Rotherham area. This tool will soon be available
by registering using the Resources page of this site
